Starwood Hotels & Resorts will open a W Hotels property in the Netherlands next year.
The new W Amsterdam will be located in a former telephone exchange building on Dam Square, behind the Royal Palace in the centre of the city.
A statement reads: “Upon entering the hotel, guests will be elevated directly to the rooftop, where they can check-in and enjoy a cocktail in the W Living Room, W’s take on the hotel lobby.
“Guests and locals alike will delight in W Amsterdam’s rooftop restaurant and destination bar, which will provide unrivalled views over Dam Square and the city lights.”
W Amsterdam will feature 169 guestrooms, including ten suites and one Extreme Wow Suite (W’s version of a presidential suite).
It will also offer a rooftop restaurant and bar, 480 sqm of meeting and event space, including two large rooms and two smaller meeting rooms, a fitness centre and a 24-hour business centre.
W Amsterdam will become the seventh W Hotel in Europe when it opens in autumn 2015, joining properties in Istanbul, Barcelona, St Petersburg, London, Paris and Verbier.
It will join a portfolio of 45 W Hotels around the world and more than 20 in development.
Starwood opened a Sheraton hotel in Zurich last month (see news, December 2013).
