InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened the first Holiday Inn Express in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The 101-room Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Thamrin is located in the central business district that is its namesake, and on "the city's busiest road", minutes away from major multinational business headquarters, banks, embassies and government offices, according to Clarence Tan, chief operating officer, South East Asia and Resorts, IHG. Thamrin and neighbouring streets take part in "Car Free Day" every Sunday from 0600 to 1100. The street is about an hour-long drive from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, depending on the Indonesian's infamous traffic.
The hotel features modern queen and twin guestrooms, all equipped with complimentary wifi. Also included are a free "Grab & Go" breakfast, a choice of hard or soft pillows, power showers with a three-function massage showerhead as well as self-service business centre and laundry room.
The Holiday Inn Express brand has experienced considerable success, positioning itself as "smart, affordable and effective alternative to full-service hotels for savvy business and leisure travellers". "It [is] the second Holiday Inn Express to open in Indonesia in the last three months. With 12 more Holiday Inn Express hotels in the pipeline, Indonesia will continue to be an important growth market for us over the next few years," Tan adds.
The Thamrin property is the fifth Holiday Inn Express in Southeast Asia, and Indonesia's second after Semarang on Java island. The others are in Bangkok, Phuket and Singapore. The coming months will see the opening of another Holiday Inn Express in Jakarta, and two in Bali.
There will be an opening special rate for guests starting from US$54 per night for bookings from now until June 30.
