9 Jan 2014 by GrahamSmith

Eastern Airways will operate ten weekly flights between Southampton and Aberdeen from later this month.

The UK airline, which is based at Humberside Airport, currently flies a daily service between the two cities, with the exception of Saturdays.

From January 20, it will fly a double-daily service on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and maintain its daily service on Fridays and Sundays, taking the weekly total number of flights to ten.

Weekday flights to Aberdeen will depart from Southampton at 0820 and 1605, arriving at 1100 and 1845 respectively, following a stopover at Leeds Bradford.

Flights from Aberdeen will leave on weekdays at 2040 and 1530, landing in Southampton at 1120 and 1810, again following a stopover in Leeds.

Just the afternoon flights will operate on Fridays. On Sundays, the aircraft will depart Southampton at 1745 and arrive in Aberdeen at 2025, while the Aberdeen to Southampton service will take-off at 1445 and land in Southampton at 1715.

The airline will deploy a Jetstream 41 Turbo aircraft on the route.

Eastern Airways commercial director Kay Ryan said: “By increasing the number of services to Aberdeen, this latest improvement allows south coast business travellers and oil industry workers the choice of a convenient morning flight or a late afternoon departure.”

The carrier began operating flights between the French cities of Lorient and Lyon on Sunday (see news, December 3).
