Silk Air, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, will launch new services to Kalibo in the Philippines, and Mandalay in Myanmar. Subject to approval, the carrier will commence thrice-weekly operations to both destinations from May 27 and June 10 respectively.
Kalibo is the capital of Aklan province, and a gateway to Boracay island – a popular holiday destination. It is Silk Air’s third destination in the Philippines after Cebu and Davao. The carrier will be offering services to Kalibo through circular-routing flights with Cebu.
Mandalay, meanwhile, will be the airline’s second destination in Myanmar after Yangon (which the flight will connect through). As the second-largest city in the country, Mandalay is home to the royal palace as well as many historical attractions built during the Konbuang Dynasty.
Both services will be operated with Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, and feature both business and economy class cabins. The A319 offers eight seats in business and 120 in economy. The A320 has 12 business, and 138 economy seats. The layover period at both Cebu and Yangon will be about an hour.
