Cityjet will cease flying to three German cities from London City Airport in April, according to reports.
From the start of its summer timetable, the airline will no longer serve Paderborn-Lippstadt and Munster-Osnabruck in northern Germany nor the Bavarian city of Nuremburg.
It would seem this development reflects the wishes of Cityjet's potential new owners, who are set to acquire the airline from Air France-KLM in the near future (see news, December 23).
But the move does come as a surprise as all three routes were launched barely a year ago and Cityjet's new owners are Germany-based.
Neither Cityjet nor LCY would confirm the news. But when Business Traveller attempted to book seats on all three routes for travel in April, we were greeted with an error message.
Losing any route is a blow to an airport, especially a niche facility like LCY, but doubtless the vacant slots will be utilised for other services, either with Cityjet or another carrier.
