BA and Virgin cancel US flights

2 Jan 2014 by GrahamSmith

British Airways and Virgin Atlantic have been forced to cancel some transatlantic flights to the US east coast due to forecast heavy snow.

New York is set to be hit by a blizzard this afternoon, lasting until tomorrow morning and bringing up to nine inches of snow. A snow warning has also been issued for the area directly south of Boston.

Virgin said it would be cancelling some of its flights to both cities today and tomorrow. To check details click here.

BA said in a statement: "Heavy snow on the east coast of the US has affected our flights travelling to and from the US. We apologise in advance for the inconvenience caused by the poor weather but the safety of our customers is our top priority."
