Taj Hotels & Resorts will rebrand the Crowne Plaza St James as St James Court, A Taj Hotel on January 7.
The property was originally opened in 1902 as St James Court. It was sold to Taj in the early 1980s and for the last few years has been run as a four-star Crowne Plaza hotel, alongside the adjoining 51 Buckingham Gate – Taj Suites & Residences.

As a result of the change, the Crowne Plaza St James will become St James Court, A Taj Hotel, while 51 Buckingham Gate will become Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites & Residences (click here for Business Traveller's most recent review).
The Crowne Plaza's website offers a redirect through to the new St James Court, A Taj Hotel site, which then links through to the main Taj Hotels website for bookings.
Taj Hotels is owned by Tata, which also owns Jaguar Land Rover, and in 2013 unveiled a number of speciality suites including the Jaguar Suite overseen by Jaguar's in-house design director Ian Callum.
