Garuda expands frequent flyer programme

23 Dec 2013 by Clement Huang

Indonesia’s flag carrier Garuda has expanded its frequent flyer programme to include new purchase options.

Passengers can now pay to buy air miles, extend the validity of earned miles, and maintain their membership tiers while continuing to earn points from patronising the airline and its partner airlines, hotels and tour operators.

“These new options allow for greater freedom for our passengers, and they are the first part our [Garuda Frequent Flyer] revamp. With seven tiers within the GFF programme, passengers have a growing range of opportunities to be rewarded for travelling with Garuda Indonesia,” said Uun Setiawan, vice-president of Australia, New Zealand and South West Pacific.

GFF rewards passengers with miles and exclusive benefits such as special check-in counters, additional baggage allowances, priority booking and access to airline lounges.

Garuda has recently begun new codeshare agreements with Jet Airways (see story) and ANA (see story), which involve reciprocal mileage accrual arrangements.
