Malindo Air will begin to operate flights between Malaysia and India, after the airline received the Operation Authorisation (OA) from the Director General of Civil Aviation.
Starting on December 30, Malindo Air will launch flights to Delhi, followed by Trichy on January 2, and Mumbai on February 15 from its hub in Kuala Lumpur.
The India services will be operated by the Boeing B737-900ER aircraft, and will feature a two-class configuration, with 12 seats in business class and 168 in economy.
Malindo Air is now accepting online bookings for the new services, and is offering promotional one-way fares to Trichy at RM399 (US$124), and RM599 (US$186) to both Delhi and Mumbai.
According to Chandran Rama Muthy, chief executive officer of Malindo Air, the new services will provide better connectivity to other destinations, beyond those served by the carrier. He also attributed the carrier's success in receiving the OA to its consistent load factor, and strong on time performance.
