Shanghai Pudong International Airport has set up information kiosks in Terminal 1 and 2 which allow passengers to get a password for free wifi access by scanning their passports, exit and entry permit for Hong Kong and Macau, or their identity card.
In the past, the free wifi password could only be received through via sms on local devices, so travellers who did not have a local number were excluded from the service. But now the kiosks allow more passengers to access the internet for free while waiting for their flights.
Locations of the kiosks are:
Terminal 1 |
Domestic departure level |
Gate 8 and 9 |
International departure level |
Gate 19 and 20 |
|
Terminal 2 |
Domestic departure level |
Gate C58 |
International departure level |
Gate D77 |
In the future, the kiosks will also be equipped with flight schedule and restaurant information, as well as mobile charging abilities and a wireless internet operation guide.
