Qatar Airways will begin operating five weekly flights to the Scottish capital of Edinburgh, effective May 28, 2014.
Flying direct from its base in Doha, the gulf carrier will serve the route with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner that offers a two-class configuration with 22 seats in business and 232 in economy.
Edinburgh is a popular destination for travellers that appreciate the city’s strong offering of world-class music, theatre, art and sport.
Edinburgh Airport will be the airline’s third destination in the UK, following the launch of services to London in 1997 and Manchester in 2003. Qatar currently operates flights to Heathrow five times a day, along with 10 weekly flights to Manchester Airport.
The schedule for the Doha-Edinburgh route is as follows:
Operation days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
QR 027 departs Doha (DOH) at 0800; arrives Edinburgh (EDI) at 1315
QR 028 departs Edinburgh (EDI) at 1445; arrives Doha (DOH) at 2340
The new route is part of Qatar Airways' ambitious expansion plan, which was particularly evident during the Dubai Air Show when the carrier ordered 51 Boeing B777Xs (see here).
