Garuda Indonesia to codeshare with Jet Airways

21 Nov 2013 by Clement Huang

Garuda Indonesia and Jet Airways have announced a codeshare agreement that will see both carriers place their flight codes on selected routes.

Under the signed agreement, Jet Airways will place its code on Garuda’s flights between Singapore and Jakarta. In turn, Garuda will place its code on Jet Airways operated services between Singapore and Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.

The codeshare offers more choice for passengers travelling between Indonesia and India, and also provides better connections to other international destinations via the transit gateway of Singapore.

The airlines have also simultaneously launched a reciprocal frequent flyer programme. Members of Jet Airways’ JetPrivilege and Garuda’s Frequent Flyer programme will now benefit from mileage accrual and redemption opportunities on not only the codeshare routes, but also the entire Garuda Indonesia network, and Jet Airways’ pan-India domestic and international networks.

Both carriers have been busy in recent months, with Jet Airways having just completed a deal to sell a 24 per cent stake to Gulf carrier Etihad Airways (see here), and Garuda launching its new first class cabin product (see here).
