SIA expands SAS codeshare agreement

19 Nov 2013 by Clement Huang

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has expanded its codeshare agreement with fellow Star Alliance member Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) on flights to several cities in Europe.

With immediate effect, SIA will place its code on SAS-operated flights from Copenhagen to: Berlin and Hamburg in Germany, Palanga and Vilnius in Lithuania, and Gdansk, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw in Poland.

SIA and SAS received regulatory approval for a joint venture in November last year (see here). The partnership has seen the two carriers coordinate flight schedules and sales activities. As a result, SIA increased frequency between Singapore and Copenhagen from three to five times per week on March 31, and SAS placed its code on the flights (see here).

SIA and SAS have been codesharing since December 2010, and the agreement has since been expanded to cover more destinations in Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand in August (see here).
