Easyjet will launch two new routes from Gatwick to Brussels and Strasbourg in March.
The budget airline will fly to the two key business destinations using slots at the London airport that it purchased from Flybe earlier this year (see news, May 25).
From March 30, flights to Brussels will operate twice daily while the Strasbourg service will run four times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Hugh Aitken, Easyjet's UK commercial manager, said: "Crucially, the acquisition of these new slots enables us to strengthen our already comprehensive range of destinations so choosing Easyjet makes even more sense for the millions of business travellers."
Easyjet, which is Gatwick's largest airline, has already announced new services to Jersey, Paris and Newcastle for next year. It will operate 107 routes from the airport from next summer.
Buying the 25 Flybe slots at Gatwick will allow the airline to fly an estimated extra 1.3 million passengers per year from the airport from March.
Easyjet said that around 300,000 — or 23 per cent — of these passengers are expected to be business travellers.
It was also today announced that Easyjet has seen its pre-tax profits rise by 51 per cent to £478 million following an increase in business travellers.
The carrier's total revenue rise by 10.5 per cent to £4.26 billion for the financial year ending on September 30, 2013. Last year, Easyjet made pre-tax profits of £317 million on the back of revenues of £3.85 billion.
