Garuda Indonesia is following in the footsteps of Singapore Airlines by enhancing its baggage allowance across its global network.
All adult and child passengers flying on the carrier's international routes can now bring an additional 10kg of baggage with them, across all classes.
Economy weight allowance is now 30kg – up from 20kg – while executive and first class have similarly been increased to 40kg and 50kg respectively.
Heavy equipment such as bicycles, surfboards, golf clubs and diving gear, meanwhile, can be taken onboard at no additional charge.
Last week, Singapore Airlines increased its free check-in baggage allowance on all SIA and Silk Air flights (see news, November 13).
Nicodemus Lampe, Garuda's vice president, area Asia, said: "With our entry into SkyTeam in March 2014, we will be further broadening and strengthening our global flight network linking Indonesia to major destinations around the world.
"During this growth period, it is key to keep tailoring our offerings to meet the changing needs of our passengers."
