SIA increases check-in baggage allowance

13 Nov 2013 by Clement Huang

Singapore Airlines is increasing its free check-in baggage allowance on all SIA and Silk Air flights from Friday.

The weight limit will increase by 10 kg for all classes of travel. Customers flying in suites (available on the A380 only) and first class, therefore, will be entitled to 50 kg of check-in baggage, while business and economy class passengers can bring 40 and 30 kg onboard respectively.

For flights to and from the US, where a per-piece allowance applies, customers travelling in suites, first and business class are allowed to check in two pieces of luggage of up to 32 kg each, up from 23 kg previously. Meanwhile, economy passengers have an allowance of two bags at 23 kg each.

Kris Flyer Elite Gold and Star Alliance Gold members will also continue to be entitled to an additional 20 kg of baggage across all travel classes, on top of the 10 kg increase due later this month. Such passengers bound for the US or Brazil, meanwhile, can have one extra piece of check-in baggage.

Finally, PPS Club members will also continue to be entitled to double the check-in baggage allowance in their respective class of travel.
