Wow Air is moving into the transatlantic market with the launch of a London Gatwick-Reykjavik-Boston service in the spring.
The Icelandic carrier will fly to Boston from LGW via Reykjavik six times a week — every day except for Saturdays.
Flights from Gatwick will depart at 1220, to arrive in Boston at 1825, while return flights from Boston will depart at 2010 and arrive in London the next day at 1050. Direct flights to Boston from Reykjavik will depart at 1630 local time.
The new route will mark Wow's first venture to the US. It will be served by Airbus A320 aircraft.
Skuli Mogensen, founder and CEO of Wow Air, said: "Our new flights to Boston mark a significant milestone for Wow Air. The continued growth of the company since its inception in 2011 has been really exciting to watch and we're really looking forward to connecting the land of fire and ice with the land of opportunity.”
Last year, Wow took control of rival airline Iceland Express (see news, October 26).
