Langham Place, Guangzhou opens its doors

Langham Hospitality Group has unveiled its newest property in China – Langham Place, Guangzhou. It is the group's eighth in Mainland China, and its 20th globally.

Located in the new central business district on Pazhou Island in the south eastern part of the city, the hotel is a two-minute walk from the China Import and Export Fair Complex. It is also situated next to Xingangdong metro station, and 10 minutes away from Tianhe shopping and commercial hub.

Langham Place, Guangzhou features 500 guestrooms and suites furnished in a contemporary style with clean lines and muted hues. Room sizes start at 42 sqm, while the Penthouse measures a generous 260 sqm. The suite offers a living room, along with a fully equipped kitchenette, and a dining room that seats six.

Superior room

All guests staying on the hotel’s executive floors will also have access to Club L, a private lounge which offers complimentary breakfast, snacks, afternoon tea and use of the boardroom. It also features panoramic views of the city.

There are several dining options available with The Open Kitchen being the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant that serves buffet and a la carte specialities. Ming Court offers Cantonese cuisine that is inspired by the identically named two-Michelin-starred restaurant at Langham Place, Hong Kong. There is also the grill and steak house Alfresco, along with the open-air Sky Bar.

In terms of facilities, Langham Place, Guangzhou offers an extensive spa concept, with six treatment rooms, as well as the signature Contemplation Lounge and Dream Room as additional relaxation places. There is also a fully equipped fitness centre with steam and sauna rooms, an indoor swimming pool, and two mini golf courses.

Finally, the hotel is also home to the largest ballroom in the city. Dubbed “The Great Hall”, the ballroom is 2,800 sqm and features eight-metre-high ceilings and a 560 sqm reception area. In total, there is a combined meeting and event space of nearly 5,000 sqm.

The group's upcoming China properties include one in Datong in 2014, Qingdao in 2015 and Dalian in 2016. The aim is to operate 50 properties within the next five to 10 years (see here).

Guangzhou meanwhile has seen a surge in hotel openings recently, with both a Mandarin Oriental (see here) and W (see here) property opening its doors within in the past year.
