Etihad Airways has announced that it will upgrade its Abu Dhabi-Colombo service from seven flights per week to a double daily starting February 16, 2014.
After coming out of a civil war in 2009, Sri Lanka has been enjoying a healthy economic growth, and as the largest city and commercial centre of the country, Colombo is once again becoming one of the most vibrant cities in South Asia. Key industries include chemicals, textiles, furniture and jewellery.
The route will continue to be operated by the A320 aircraft and features a two-class configuration, with 16 Pearl business class seats and 120 Coral economy class seats. The increased flight frequency will increase seat capacity by over 1,900 per week.
The service upgrade will also offer a 46 per cent increase in the number of connections for travellers to destinations such as the UK, Europe, Africa and the Persian Gulf states via Etihad’s base in Abu Dhabi.
