Cathay Pacific Airways is making its premium economy class seats available to passengers on 22 regional routes from October 27. Seats go on sale from October 2.
The product will be on select flights to and from Bangkok, Beijing, Cebu, Colombo, Denpasar/Bali, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Karachi, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Nagoya, Osaka, Penang, Sapporo, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Surabaya, Taipei and Tokyo (Narita and Haneda), as well as some tag flights linked to a second destination such as Bangkok to Delhi and Taipei to Fukuoka.
CX first introduced premium economy on its long-haul and medium-haul routes in March last year (see here). Available on flights to and from Europe, North America, Australia, the Middle East and India, premium economy is located in a separate cabin with 26 and 34 seats, depending on aircraft type.
The seat offers a 38-inch pitch – six inches more than economy class. It also allows a greater recline angle and includes a larger meal table, a separate cocktail table, a footrest that extends from the seat, a 10.6-inch personal television, an in-seat power outlet, a multi-port connector for personal devices and extra personal stowage space.
Passengers are also entitled to an increased baggage allowance of 25kg (up from 23kg on economy), access to dedicated check-in counters, priority boarding and 110 per cent Asia Miles accrual. For a detailed review of the premium economy product, please see here.
Earlier today at the Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Travel Awards, CX won the Best Premium Economy honour as well as reclaiming its award for the Best Airline Lounge in Asia-Pacific. For a full list of award winners, please see here.
