Mandarin Oriental has signed an agreement to manage a new luxury hotel in Chongqing, southwest China.
The new hotel will be branded as Mandarin Oriental, Chongqing and is slated for a 2016 opening. It will form part of a premier mixed-use project located in Jiangbeizui, the new financial, commercial and business centre of the city. Chongqing is the third most populated city in China, and one of the country's major manufacturing and transportation hubs (see our Inside China report here).
Mandarin Oriental, Chongqing is located approximately 20 minutes' drive from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, and a mere five minutes from the commercial and entertainment districts in Yuzhong Peninsula.
Featuring 231 guestrooms, including 25 suites and 18 serviced apartments, the hotel will be positioned on the top floors of a new 248-metre tower. All guest accommodations will offer panoramic views of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers, along with the city skyline of Yuzhong and Jiangbeizui Central Park.
The guestrooms and suites will feature mixed design elements influenced by the group’s oriental heritage, and an elegant, contemporary style. An executive club lounge is also available.
In terms of dining options, the property will have five restaurants and bars to choose from, including a speciality restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, an all-day dining venue, lobby lounge, a roof terrace bar and a signature Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop.
The hotel will also feature eight spa treatment suites that offer a range of wellness, beauty and massage treatments. For conferences and social events, a grand ballroom measuring 1,200sqm, and a variety of additional multi-purpose function spaces are available. Finally, there is a fully equipped fitness facility, along with a heated indoor swimming pool.
