Emirates will commence a daily passenger service to Khwaja Rawash Airport, Kabul, Afghanistan from December 4.
An A340-500 will be serving the route, and will feature a three-class configuration, offering 12 first, 42 business and 204 economy class seats.
Emirates is the only commercial carrier so far to include a first class cabin on a service between Dubai and Kabul. The airline has stated that it expects the flight to be particularly popular with business travellers, as well as Afghan nationals returning home. Kabul is one of the fastest growing cities in the world according to City Mayors Statistics (see here), which also states that Kabul’s economic strength stems from its exports of fruits, beverages and furniture.
Flight EK 640 will depart Dubai daily at 0955 and arrive in Kabul at 1315. The return flight, EK 641 will leave the Afghan capital at 1530 and arrive back in the UAE at 1800.
Emirates’ service to Kabul follows recent announcements from the airline that it would commence operations to Clark, Philippines (see here), and Taipei (see here).
