ANA Mileage Club
New World Hotels has partnered with ANA Mileage Club to offer participating members extra mileage points starting from 500 points for every stay at the group’s properties in Manila, Ho Chi Minh City, Shanghai, Wuhan, Dalian and Beijing (scheduled to open in November).
From September 16, ANA Mileage Club members are able to earn the extra points by booking hotel stays at qualified rates.
Alaska Airlines
Alaska Airlines is holding a one-month promotion which allows members of its frequent flyer programme to earn up to 40 per cent bonus miles. The breakdown of the promotion is as follows.
Buy 1,000-19,000 miles: get a 20 per cent bonus
Buy 20,000-29,000 miles: get a 30 per cent bonus
Buy 30,000-40,000 miles: get a 40 per cent bonus
The miles bought can be used to redeem flights with other Oneworld partner airlines such as Qantas, Cathay Pacific, and Emirates. If you plan carefully, purchasing the miles would entitle you to purchase airfares at far cheaper prices than you would normally pay.
For example, Alaska Airlines offers one-way business class airfares between Brisbane and Los Angeles through Qantas at a cost of 55,000 Alaska miles along with a further US$117 for tax and fuel surcharge.
Purchasing of 40,000 miles at US$1,100 entitles buyers to 40 per cent bonus miles (16,000 miles). This means that the aforementioned one-way business class fare would cost a total of US$1,217 (inclusive of all tax and surcharge). Compare this to Qantas’ normal fare of A$11,160 (US$10,317) and up for the exact same ticket.
