Hainan Airlines to fly B787 on Beijing-Chicago route

5 Sep 2013

Hainan Airlines has just launched a Beijing-Chicago service, serviced twice weekly by an A340-600. The frequency will be increased to four times a week starting December 10, and the aircraft used will be changed to a B787.

Instead of an A330-200 (reported here early this year), the route is now using a 288-seat A340-600, consisting of three classes – eight first class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration; 60 business seats in 2-2-2; and 220 seats in economy class in a 2-4-2 setup.

The flight departs from Beijing every Tuesday and Sunday at 1320, and arrives Chicago at 1225. The return leg leaves the US at 1425, and lands in the Chinese capital at 1820 the following day.

From December 10 onwards, the service will operate on every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday with the same flight times. This will be the third Dreamliner route of the airline after Beijing – Haikou and Beijing – Shanghai (see story and seatplan here).
