SIA A380 to serve Shanghai

Singapore Airlines will begin using the A380 on services between Singapore and Shanghai.

SIA currently operates 28 weekly flights to Shanghai Pudong International Airport using Boeing 777-200 and 777-300ER aircraft. The B777-200 offers a two-class configuration with 38 seats in business and 228 in economy class, while the B777-300ER has a three-class configuration with eight seats in first, 42 in business and 228 in economy class.

The A380 will be used on five flights per week, increasing overall seat capacity by 12 per cent. It will feature a three-class configuration with 12 suites in first class, 60 flat-bed seats in business class, and 399 seats in economy. Seats for both first and business class are positioned in a 1-2-1 layout, while economy class seats are arranged 3-4-3.

SIA currently flies the A380 on services to Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo Narita and Zurich. In Mainland China, meanwhile, A380 services include Beijing, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Kunming, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Wuhan and Xiamen.
