Scoot unveils silent cabin

21 Aug 2013 by ScottCarey7

Scoot, the Singapore based low-cost carrier, has introduced a new quiet zone on to its fleet of B777-200ER aircraft.

The new product is called ScootinSilence and takes up rows 21-25, located behind the ScootBiz cabin (to see a seat plan, click here). All of the seats offer extended legroom of 35-inches – four more than economy - and are upholstered in yellow.

The cabin also has an age limit of 12 and over, a move which the airline hopes will create a quiet zone.

The price for a ScootinSilence seat is an additional S$18 (US$14) on top of the regular economy fare. A ScootBiz seat costs from S$99 (US$77) more than an economy seat.

This is not the first time an airline has adopted a ban on children in certain cabins. Malaysia Airlines introduced a child free zone on the upper deck of its A380s last year (see news, April 2012).

Scoot flies to 11 cities, including Singapore, Sydney, Gold Coast, Bangkok, Taipei, Tokyo, Tianjin, Qingdao, Shenyang, Nanjing, and Seoul.

The low-cost carrier expects to take delivery of the first of its 20 Boeing Dreamliner aircraft in 2014 (see news, October 2012).
