Starwood expands footprint in Peru

8 Aug 2013 by Clement Huang

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has announced that it will be adding a new property to its Luxury Collection portfolio. Palacio del Inka in Cusco will be the group’s sixth property under management in Peru.

Peru is becoming an increasingly popular destination, and the growing number of air-links to the country has highlighted this, including the likes of Air France, United Airlines and Air Canada.

“Latin America has a vast landscape with unique destinations that are ideal for global explorers seeking one-of-a-kind experiences with exceptional service and style. As a result, The Luxury Collection brand portfolio continues to grow in the region, where we now have 11 hotels, from Argentina to Mexico,” said Osvaldo Librizzi, co-president, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Americas.

The hotel is located directly across from the preserved ruins of the Koricancha, or Temple of the Sun. Featuring 203 guestrooms, including 17 Casa de los Cuatri Bustos Suites, the hotel reflects early Spanish colonial architecture, having been designed and inhabited by Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century.

Guestrooms offer custom-designed carved wooden doors, chests and writing desk that complement the use of vintage artwork and mirrors. The suites also feature 13-foot high ceilings, along with the use of textile that show the hotel’s distinct personality while preserving the elegancy and heritage of the building.

Facilities include a spa offering a variety of therapeutic treatments, including the signature called Qoricancha, where the user has his or her skin wrapped in 24 carat gold. There are two dining options – a restaurant serving international cuisine while incorporating seasonal and local Peruvian ingredients, and a bar offering an extensive win and cocktail menu. Finally, the hotel also offers five meeting spaces with a seating capacity of up to 400 guests.
