Qantas expands mobile app

7 Aug 2013 by Clement Huang

Following the introduction of its mobile app for iOS in May, Qantas Airways has released a version for Android with integrated Google Now support for customers. The app is now supported on iOS, Android and Windows OS.

The Android app allows Qantas customers to purchase airfares, book rooms in over 100,000 hotels, manage their frequent flyer points and check-in – all from one location.

Moreover, the integration with Google Now means that customers are provided important up-to-date information such as flight details, directions to the airport, live traffic updates and notifications on the weather in their destinations.

Mobile apps are playing an increasingly important role for Qantas, said Lyell Strambi, Qantas domestic chief executive officer, recognising its potential for driving mobile bookings and check-ins.

“Since the launch of our iPhone app in May, we have seen more than a 20 per cent increase in mobile booking,” he added.

United Airlines (see here) and Lufthansa (see here) have also recently developed applications.

The Qantas Android app is available for download at the Google Play Store.
