Asiana temporarily restricts pre-seat assignment time

5 Aug 2013 by Clement Huang

Asiana Airlines has announced that it will be implementing changes to its online pre-seat assignment service from August 1, 2013.

The airline will be temporarily restricting the time passengers are allowed to assign their seats online. Prior to the change, passengers on domestic flights were able to assign their seats anytime between 30 days and two hours prior to departure. Those taking International flights were also able to do the same between 328 days and two hours before departure.

But from now until November, both all passengers would only be able to assign their seats between 48 hours and one hour prior to departure.

A source at Asiana explains that the change is needed to accommodate the introduction of a new online check-in system, which will feature a revised reservation and ticketing capability to smoothen the process of issuing tickets and boarding for passengers.
