Heathrow has released its first-ever food guide based on the recommendations of its official taste buds, Masterchef judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace.
Thousands of copies of Food On The Fly, which provides a "comprehensive" overview of dining options within LHR, are being handed out to passengers this week.
Torode and Wallce have spent the last six months challenging the airport's food and beverage establishments to introduce healthier menu choices across the terminals (see online news, May 8).
They set the challenge after being given access to all areas to sip, sample and savour dishes from LHR's 73 restaurants and bars.
Food On The Fly reviews all these venues and features recommendations including top fives and a breakdown of restaurants by terminal, giving passengers a simple way to track down something tasty to eat pre-flight.
It also includes top tips about the type of foods to eat - or avoid - before flying for those looking to travel well.
John Torode said: "The gastronomic challenge that Gregg and I undertook earlier this year showed us that there really is a vast amount of food and drink on offer at Heathrow.
"The guide is a great way for passengers to navigate their way through the menus and potential meals available - and to make the most of their time at the airport."
Ben Crowley, head of food and beverage at Heathrow, added: "It's often hard to show the full extent of our offering so it's been great working with John and Gregg to produce this comprehensive guide. We hope that passengers enjoy Food on the Fly as much as we have creating it."
Each year, some 26 million orders are placed at Heathrow's restaurants and bars.
A digital version of Food On The Fly is available to download from heathrowairport.com.
