Cathay Pacific has unveiled its newly refreshed first class product by introducing a number of new features that aim to improve the look and feel of the cabin. For a review on the airline's current first class seat, click here.

The revamp has been implemented by London-based Foster + Partners, which also designed the first class lounge of The Wing. According to CX, partnering with Foster again ensures first class passengers “a more harmonious experience throughout their journey – from ground to the air.”

The new improvements include a redesign of the first class suite, which now features a highly glossy dark grey textured material on the outer surface, while warm-tone natural leather is used for the interior for a luxurious feel.

Handcrafted sculptural artworks made out of copper and steel have also been placed in order to complement the new design and to add an extra dimension to the cabin.

Part of the airline's research process involved input from Marco Polo members, and the airline has considered their comments when introducing improvements to the product. These include a more adjustable meal table, more room in the personal closet and additional space inside the console compartment for personal items such as handsets and glasses.

Other new features include a new 4.3” LCD touchscreen controller, allowing passengers to easily change the seat position, adjust lumbar support and turn lights on or off with just a simple touch. Reading lights now have five levels of brightness, and the controller includes an independent on/off switch.

In-flight entertainment utilities have also been upgraded with passengers now able to enjoy new Bose noice-canceling headphones for better comfort and sound quality.

Finally, all first class beddings have also been redesigned and enhanced, with the airline employing high-quality materials to be fitted into the duvets, pillows, cushions and bed mattress for extra sleeping comfort.

CX will be implementing these enhancements to its Boeing B777-300ER fleet, with the first upgraded aircraft due to enter service on July 26, 2013. The entire cabin refresh project is scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of 2014.
