Hainan Airlines has received its first Dreamliner from Boeing. The delivery is the first of 10 787s the Chinese carrier has ordered, and the aircraft will initially be used to operate the domestic route from Beijing to Haiko.
The aircraft will subsequently be deployed on flights between Beijing to Seattle, Toronto and Chicago, along with several new destinations.
"The 787 will allow Hainan Airlines to open new routes from Beijing to North America and provide our unique 'Eastern-style' five-star in-flight experience for global passengers," said Mu Weigang, vice chairman of Hainan Airlines.
The carrier's Dreamliner will consist of 36 fully flat business seats configured in a 2-2-2 format, and 177 economy seats arranged 3-3-3.
Hainan Air joins China Southern, which became the first Chinese carrier to receive the aircraft type in early June (see here) after the Civil Aviation Administration of China issued a certification for B787s in late May (see story here).
