Etihad Airways has announced it will increase the frequency of the Abu Dhabi-Kuala Lumpur route, turning its daily service into twice-daily from July 15 onwards.
The additional flight, operated by an two-class, 262-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft, will depart Abu Dhabi at 1120, arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 2240, and the return leg will depart the Malaysian capital at 0325, arriving back in Abu Dhabi at 0610. The other service is flown by a Boeing B777-300ER with two classes and 412 seats.
According to James Hogan, chief executive and president of Etihad Airways, this additional service responds to high demand on this route. “More than one million passengers have travelled to and from Malaysia since the commencement of services in January 2007.”
Etihad has recently been expanding its network rigorously by taking a 24 per cent stake in Jet Airways (see story here), new codeshare agreements with Air France (see story here), South African Airways (see story here) and a new flight to Rome with Alitalia (see story here).
