Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group signed a global partnership agreement with UnionPay International last week, allowing customers to use their UnionPay credit card in select properties.
China is currently Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s second largest market, and is poised to become its largest within the next five years. UnionPay, a Chinese company, is undergoing rapid global expansion at the moment.
Customers can now use the card to book rooms in 17 out of 45 Mandarin Oriental properties. In Asia, these include hotels in Hong Kong, Macau, Guangzhou, Sanya, Tokyo, Bangkok, Manila and Singapore. In Europe and the US, properties include Barcelona, Geneva, London and Paris and Las Vegas. The rest are scheduled to accept the card within the next 12 months.
UnionPay also partnered with the Corinthia Hotel in London last month (see story here).
