CX cancels one daily Paris flight due to strike

10 Jun 2013 by ReggieHo

As advised by the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC), Cathay Pacific will cut 50 per cent of its scheduled flights to and from Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) from tomorrow onwards until Friday (June 11-13) due to planned industrial action by air traffic controllers in France.

CX261 (Hong Kong-Paris) and CX278 (Paris-Hong Kong) will not fly in the next three days and passengers booked on these flights may make alternative arrangements via Manage My Booking on cathaypacific.com.

CX279 (Hong Kong-Paris) and CX260 (Paris-Hong Kong) are still scheduled to fly as usual, but the airline is encouraging travellers to postpone non-essential travel to Paris to later dates. It is also offering to waive re-booking and re-routing charges for all tickets issued worldwide on or before 10 June.

The strike is in protest of the European Union's plans to deregulate the airline sector. The air traffic controller union is in the view that such reform would worsen working conditions and compromise safety. Flights by other airlines are also expected to face cancellations and they will also have knock-on effects across Europe as CDG is the second busiest airport in the continent.
