Hampton by Hilton to double UK hotels by 2015

5 Jun 2013 by GrahamSmith

Hilton Worldwide is opening two hotels, one at Gatwick Airport and the other in Birmingham, as part of its Hampton by Hilton brand.

The properties - Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick Airport, North Terminal and Hampton by Hilton Birmingham City North - are being redeveloped at a cost of £22.5 million.

They will be two of what Hampton by Hilton promises will be a portfolio of 23 hotels in the UK by 2015 - doubling its presence in Britain.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, Europe and Africa, Hilton Worldwide, said, "Hampton by Hilton's continued UK growth is giving increasingly savvy consumers greater access to exceptional hotel experiences at highly competitive rates and in more locations.

"With these latest hotels in Gatwick and Birmingham now under development, the strong momentum behind Hampton by Hilton means we are on track to double the current UK portfolio by 2015."

Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick Airport, North Terminal is expected to open early next year and will be directly connected to the North Terminal, linked by the hotel's own covered walkway.

Under a franchise agreement with Shiva Hotels Limited, Longbridge House is being converted into a seven-storey, 192 room hotel. The property will also feature two meeting rooms and on-site parking.

The newly-built 109 room Hampton by Hilton Birmingham City North has been signed under a management agreement with Birmingham Regeneration LLP and is located in the city's Jewellery Quarter.

Upon its opening this summer, it will become the brand's second hotel in the city, following the opening of Hampton by Hilton Birmingham Broad Street last year.

This announcement follows the opening of Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport, the brand's 11th UK hotel (see online news, April 30).
