Starwood is to open its first property in Liverpool next year, a 116-room Aloft hotel located on North John Street.
Aloft Liverpool will be housed within the renovated, grade II-listed Royal Insurance Building, located on the corners of North John Street and Dale Street in the city’s heritage centre.
The Portland stone, Neo-baroque building originally opened in 1903, but has been empty since the 1980s, and will now be transformed into Starwood’s first hotel in the city.
Features will include guestrooms with high ceilings and large walk-in showers, as well as the brand’s signature Re:mix lounge, Wxyz bar, Re:charge fitness centre and Re:fuel 24-hour shop. For meetings there will also be “five creative spaces equipped with the latest audio-visual hardware”.
The Aloft Liverpool is the latest in a series of new and forthcoming hotels in the city, including Z Liverpool (see online news April 4), Adagio Liverpool City Centre (see online news March 26), and the Doubletree by Hilton Liverpool (see online news August 9, 2012).
