Chuan Spa (Langham Hotels)

Overview: Chuan Spa applies traditional Chinese medicine methods, using energy flows, basic elemental forces and the influence of heat and cold to balance the five Wu Xing elements inside the human body. The spa provides over 60 treatments and tailors them to your individual needs.
 
Where: Langham Hotels in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Melbourne, Auckland, Boston and Los Angeles.
 
Recommended treatment: Chuan Yu Facial treatment (75 minutes for US$126): This applies the ancient Gua Sha technique and makes use of jade to revitalise different skin types. It can increase blood circulation and restore skin. 
Chuan Harmony massage (1 hour for US$110, 90 minutes for US$197): The full body oil massage relaxes you and induces a deep sense of calm.

Other features: Chuan Spa also offers treatment rooms for groups of up to four people.

Mandarin Oriental Spas (Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group) 

Overview: The spas are designed to offer a holistic experience for guests to relax and enjoy personalised services. Elements from traditional Chinese medicine are included, catering to guests’ emotional, physical and mental wellbeing.

Recommended treatment: Mandarin Oriental Signature Spa Therapies (110 minutes for US$225/248): Each therapy features a hands-on body massage ritual, traditional Chinese medicine and nutritional and exercise guidance. Each guest has a private therapist to consult with that tailors services to their needs.
Oriental Harmony (110 minutes for US$387): The treatment includes a foot bath, as well as a head and foot massage provided by two therapists. The massage relaxes and energises the body, and leaves skin fragrant.
Time Rituals (2 hours for US$264/361, 3 hours for US$283/400): The service is designed to meet your individual needs. Guests can a book time, consult therapists and have appropriate rituals to restore the body's equilibrium.
 
Other features: There are couples’ suites in the spas with private vitality pools. Other facilities include Chinese herbal steam rooms, ice fountains and hydrotherapy pools.

Overview: Chi treatments are based on natural healing methods and the five traditional Chinese elements to harmonise the body’s energy. The spa provides services including body massage, exercise, stretching, and hydrotherapy.

Recommended treatment: Chi Balance (60/90 minutes for US$150/194): This full body massage is available at all properties. The massage technique combines acupressure and coordinated movements that originate from Tai Chi, and produces an energising massage for yang stimulation and relaxing massage for yin calm.

Willow Stream Spa (Fairmont Hotels and Resorts) 

Overview: Treatments in the Willow Stream Spas feature local traditions, plants and herbs, and are designed for stress relief, skin care and diminishing the appearance of fine lines. The treatments focus on healing your body after outdoor sports such as golf, tennis and skiing.
 
Where: Fairmont Hotels in South Africa, Egypt, and China.
 
Recommended treatment: Skin-Refining Aromatherapy Facial (60 minutes for US$145): The treatment provided at Fairmont Beijing includes a cleansing and exfoliating mask as well as a relaxing face, scalp, hand and foot massage.
Mystic Peace (90 minutes for US$191): Offered at Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai, the treatment features a 90-minute massage that can alleviate tension and loosen muscles.
 
Other features: The spas have pools, spacious lounges, tearooms, private suites and cluster treatment rooms.

Banyan Tree Spa (Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts)

Overview: Banyan Tree Spa owns approximately 70 spas in about 30 countries. It embraces local culture and heritage, and uses indigenous materials for the various treatments it offers. It also employs the tropical garden spa concept, providing guests with the sense of spiritual, mental and physical harmony.

Recommended treatment: Royal Banyan (180 minutes for US$220): The treatment is available at every Banyan Tree Spa. It uses local herbal and spices in a herbal pouch dipped in warm sesame oil applied to the body by a professional therapist to ease muscular tension and improve blood circulation.
Rainmist Experience (180 minutes for US$258): The treatment is a combination of a Rainmist Steam Bath and rain shower. It helps to relax the body.
 
Other features: The treatments are conducted by expert therapists, and feature different local spa materials and techniques.
