BA adds option to save credit card details

10 Apr 2013 by BusinessTraveller

British Airways customers can now save their credit card details online at ba.com when making flight purchases.

The new feature allows customers to save the details of up to nine cards in “a secure payment vault”, so that they can be accessed and selected at the time of booking.

Initially the service will only be available to those purchasing the flights at ba.com or via a mobile device, but the carrier says it plans to extend the feature to purchases of Avios, pre-paid seating, excess baggage and upgrades “within the next few months”.

BA says that “Enhanced security settings have been used to ensure personal details remain safe”.

Customers can view, edit and delete their card details on a new ‘Saved payment cards’ page within 'Manage my account'.

It is not necessary to be a BA Executive Club member to avail of this feature, but the carrier says that customers can “easily convert their accounts to Executive Club accounts for even more benefits”.

The new feature follows the revamp of BA’s online offering last year, which co-incided with the redesign of rival Virgin Atlantic’s website (see online news April 24, 2012).
