Premier Inn to add four Scottish properties

26 Mar 2013 by BusinessTraveller

Budget hotel chain Premier Inn has announced four new properties in Scotland, adding nearly 400 rooms to the group’s portfolio.

The new hotels will be located in Glasgow, Perth, St Andrews and Stirling, and are part of Premier Inn’s target to reach 65,000 rooms by 2016.

The 180-room Glasgow property will be located on the banks of the River Clyde, opposite the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre and Hydro arena, and is set to open in time for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The three other hotels include an 83-room property on Perth’s Mill Street, a 65-room hotel on St Andrew’s Largo Road, and a 60-room property and Beefeater Grill at Forthside in Stirling.

Premier Inn recently opened its largest UK property at Gatwick airport (see online news November 30, 2012), and announced plans to trial noise sensors at selected hotels, aimed at reducing the number of guests being disturbed by people returning to their rooms late at night (see online news November 27, 2012).

A report on thetimes.co.uk today (link is behind the subscription barrier) states that the hotel group is developing a second brand "as it starts to run out of new locations for its Premier Inn chain".
