SAS to launch SAS Go and SAS Plus

22 Mar 2013 by BusinessTraveller

SAS has revamped its domestic and European service classes, replacing the current economy, economy extra and business with two new products: SAS Go and SAS Plus.

The new products will come into effect in June, with SAS Go passengers benefitting from one piece of checked luggage and complimentary tea and coffee, plus the option to buy food on board (as is currently the case for economy customers).

SAS Plus passengers will get additional benefits including a second piece of checked luggage, fast track security security and lounge access, complimentary in-flight food and drink, and double the number of Euro Bonus points.

The new products follow the implementation of the carrier’s ‘4 Excellence Next Generation’ plan at the end of last year (see online news November 20, 2012), aimed at cutting annual costs cut by around SEK 3 billion (£278.5 million), with the loss of up to 6,000 jobs, salary reductions and the outsourcing of call centres and ground handling operations.

SAS says that the changes will co-incide with a “completely new onboard service concept, where the traditional airplane food will be replaced with a Café and a new range that will be offered to all customers onboard”.
