Business Traveller has obtained the seating layout for KLM’s new fully-flat business class, which will be fitted to the carrier’s B747-400 aircraft from this summer.

Earlier this week we revealed images and details of the new seat (see online news March 19), and can now confirm the configuration for the new product across the two decks of the B747 jumbo.

On the upper deck the number of business class seats will be reduced from 24 to 20 seats, with four sets of two seats on the left hand side of the aircraft, and six sets of two on the right hand side.

On the lower deck the seat density will decrease from the current 18 seats down to just 15, with three new ‘solo’ seats being created in 1A, 4A and 4E.

In total the number of business class seats will be reduced from the current 42 down to 35, and the bed length will increase from the current 1.9 metres (angled lie-flat) to 2.07 metres (fully-flat).

The IFE screen will also increase in size from 10.4 inches (26.4 cm) to 17 inches (43.2 cm).

Here are the two layouts for comparison – we’ll get the new configuration drawn up and added to KLM’s seatplans section as soon as we can.
