First Look: Courtyard Hong Kong Sha Tin

19 Mar 2013

Marriott International has opened the largest of its Asia-based Courtyard hotels in Shatin, Hong Kong.

The hotel has 539 guest bedrooms, including 30 executive suites at 56 sqm each and a single 165 sqm presidential suite. Spread across the hotel’s top three floors, guests staying on the executive levels also have access to the Courtyard’s executive lounge that features a self-service bar, separate work space and sizeable balcony. The facility has impressive views over the nearby Sha Tin Racecourse.

Free wifi is provided throughout the hotel, including public spaces. Each bedroom features a generous workspace and the option of wired connectivity, whilst an LCD TV with international satellite channels is also included. Finished in marble, the ensuite bathroom features a rain shower.

In the lobby, a number of causal seating areas can also be used as workstations with each providing access to electrical outlets. The reception area features a “GoBoard”: this 55-inch touchscreen LCD monitor provides local information, flight times, news and maps. Mobile integration allows guests to save directions and details directly to their smartphones via a QR code.

As with all Courtyard properties, the hotel features a single restaurant, MoMo Café. Located on the 2nd floor, the canteen-style venue serves breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets with a combination of Asian and Western dishes. For meetings, MoMo Café has two private rooms whilst the hotel also has three function rooms and a 512 sqm pillar-less ballroom which can be divided into three smaller function rooms.

All guests have access to a 24-hour gym. An outdoor pool will open in May.

Sha Tin is home to the Hong Kong Science Park, and it is also well linked by rail. The hotel is less than five minutes walk from the Shek Mun MTR station on the Ma On Shan Line. It takes about 40 minutes by train to get to the Central District.
