Hilton Worldwide has launched the first Conrad Hotel in Beijing, which is the brand’s fifth in Greater China, including those in Hong Kong, Macau, Dalian and Sanya.
The 289-room hotel, boasting a striking honey comb design on its exterior, is located within the Chaoyang district, placing it a short distance away from foreign embassies, the airport, and entertainment and shopping hubs, such as Sanlitun Village. The property consists of five food and beverage outlets, an indoor swimming pool, a 24-hour gym and a spa.
As with approximately 20 other Conrad properties around the world, this hotel will offer the new Conrad Concierge service launched last year that enables guests to customise their stay prior to their arrival, by for example pre-ordering room service or a wake up call, through an application for smartphone or tablet devices.
Though slightly slower than other hotel groups, Hilton Worldwide announced an aggressive expansion plan for the Asia-Pacific region in 2011 (see story here), with hopes to expand the presence of its luxury brands in particular – Waldorf Astoria and Conrad – in the economic hotbeds of India and China. Back then the hotel group had just 17 hotels open in China, a portfolio that has more than doubled to 34 properties over the past two years. The group plans to launch a Waldorf Astoria in Beijing in the near future as well.
