Kempinski and Hilton open new properties in India's National Capital Region

22 Feb 2013 by ReggieHo

Two new hotels attached to the names of international hospitality brands have opened in Delhi.

Kempinski Ambience Hotel Delhi (pictured below) has opened to mark the beginning of collaboration between Kempinski Hotels and Ambience Group, a real estate development company based in the Indian capital. The hotel is located in the commercial district of Shahdara, East Delhi, India, and is independently managed by the European hotel group.

The property consists of two towers connected by a sky bridge, and comprises 480 rooms and suites, four restaurants, a bar, two outdoor heated swimming pools, and other recreational facilities. There is more than 70,000 sq ft (6,503 sqm) of event space, including India’s largest pillar-less ballroom for up to 6,000 guests.

Located in one of the most established commercial districts in Delhi, the hotel is well connected to the airports and other parts of the city by various means of transport including the metro.

Through this new partnership with the Ambience Group, Kempinski is able to develop its independent properties in India, a move that was previously impossible due its tie-up with Leela Palace Hotels & Resorts. The joint venture group, Kempinski Ambience Hotel Group, plans to open five to six hotels in India by 2015, in Kerala, Goa, Hyderabad, Karnataka, Chennai and Mumbai.

Hilton Garden Inn Gurgaon Baani Square (pictured below) has opened its doors today in the affluent financial hub, making it Hilton Worldwide’s second hotel in India under this mid-priced line that targets business travellers.

The hotel is in close proximity to prime commercial and residential districts such as Infocity and Unitech Cyber Park. DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon’s premier business centre, is a 10-minute (eight kilometers) drive away. The shopping and fine dining area MG Road is also close by, as is Kingdom of Dreams, India’s first entertainment complex with live musicals, dramas and a food hall.

The property offers free internet access, free use of business centre facilities for the first 24 hours and free remote printing service from the guestroom. The business centre is open around the clock and comes with advanced audiovisual facilities. On top of that, there are four meeting rooms for 20 to 150 people, an 18,000 sq ft (1,672 sqm) conference and banquet area with green lawns and an outdoor courtyard for functions.

There are 201 guestrooms and four food and beverage outlets, including Glasshouse, an all-day restaurant offering both an a la carte menu and buffet, and the rooftop bar and grill Hive. The hotel also features a rooftop pool and a 24-hour gym.

With this new addition, Hilton Worldwide now manages seven hotels in Delhi across its portfolio. Hilton Garden Inn’s global head Adrian Kurre calls India “one of the most important markets for Hilton Worldwide”. HHonors, Hilton’s loyalty programme, is applicable for guests staying at the hotel. Gurgaon, located in the National Capital Region and 30km south of New Delhi, has undergone major infrastructure updates in the past decades and now has the third highest average income in India. It is an important industrial and financial centre and it is well linked by the expressway and Delhi Metro.
