Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd, operator of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and other air hubs around the country, is entering the airport hotel sector. Its first project is Sama-Sama KL International Airport Hotel, formerly Pan Pacific KLIA Hotel.
The property’s 442 guestrooms are currently undergoing a RM60 million (US$19.3 million) renovation, which will be completed by the end of March when the “elegant, stylish and contemporary style” units will be unveiled, its website states. In the meantime, the hotel remains open while selected sections are worked on between 9am and 6pm.
There is also a fitness center, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, 24-hour gymnasium, beauty salon, outdoor swimming pool and complimentary wifi. Restaurant offerings include a round-the-clock open kitchen, bar and grill, poolside terrace and lounge.
Another RMB5 million (US$1.6 million) is also going into the upgrading of an existing transit hotel located in the satellite terminal, called Sama-Sama Express. Meanwhile, a second transit hotel will be offered at the new low-cost terminal, KLIA 2, opening in June, dubbed Sama-Sama Express KLIA 2.
Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd officials revealed they aim to bring the brand – which in Malay translates to “togetherness” – to other international destinations, including the UK.
