Etihad Airways is preparing for an upgrade to its systems which will add benefits including increased flexibility to the Etihad Guest frequent flyer programme.
The carrier will carry out upgrades to its check-in and booking systems between February 22 and 25, and all passengers departing over this period are asked to check-in at the airport four hours before their flights.
Between the evenings of February 22 and 23 there will also be a systems blackout, during which time customers will be unable to book or redeem flights, make changes to bookings, use online check-in, upgrade using miles, or purchase an upgrade at the airport.
In a statement on its website Etihad says that “After 12 months of evaluation, Etihad Airways has chosen to change its systems to support our next ten years of growth. The new systems will allow us to continue to innovate and to further enhance our award-winning travel experience”.
Once completed, the upgrade will add several benefits to the carrier’s loyalty scheme, including the ability to book award seats online up to three hours before departure, and the option to book a stopover in Abu Dhabi when travelling on a reward ticket (via the Etihad Guest service centre).
Members will also be able to upgrade using miles via the carrier’s website, providing the ticket has been issued by Etihad Airways.
