The Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou has opened its doors to business, making it the hotel group’s first city property in mainland China, which will be followed by a series of openings across the country in the next few years.
The hotel is located in the city’s Tianhe district, a premier business district, and within the TaiKoo Hui mixed complex that also consists of office space, a luxury shopping mall and a cultural centre.
There are 263 guestrooms and 24 serviced apartments, catering to both long and short-stay guests. Additionally, the hotel features a spa, outdoor pool, gym and five food and beverage outlets, including Jiang by Chef Fei, a renowned Cantonese chef, a classic grill restaurant called Ebony and a tea lounge.
As reported earlier (see story here), Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is poised to launch properties in Shanghai, Beijing and Chengdu by 2015 in a bid to expand its portfolio in Mainland China, which currently only covers Sanya and Guangzhou.
