BA announces summer route and terminal changes

17 Jan 2013 by BusinessTraveller

British Airways has announced several route and terminal changes for the summer 2013 season.

The carrier’s Heathrow routes to Zagreb and Leeds Bradford (introduced in December as a result of slots freed up by the integration of BMI into BA’s Heathrow operations) will both move from T1 to T5.

But the Leeds service will be reduced from four to three times-daily (combining the lunchtime and afternoon frequencies), with remaining flights “re-timed to better suit business travellers with earlier morning departures in both directions”.

The new Heathrow - Leeds timetable will see flights depart from Terminal 5 at 0755, 1235 and 1930, with the Leeds - Heathrow flights departing at 0930, 1505 and 2115.

BA will also launch flights from Heathrow to Ibiza from April 27, joining existing services from London City and Gatwick, and new routes from Heathrow to Palma, and Gatwick to both Lanzarote and Tenerife will commence at the end of March.

The carrier will also drop its service to Tbilisi at the end of March, in favour of a three-class, non-stop service to Almaty from Terminal 5 (BA currently serves the Kazakhstan city via Tbilisi from Terminal 1).

Other new routes previously announced by BA for this year include Sri Lanka (see online news August 6, 2012) and Chengdu (see online news December 19, 2012).
