American Airlines enhances business and first class offering

8 Jan 2013 by BusinessTraveller
American Airlines has launched several enhancements to its long-haul business and first class offering. The new services and amenities include a welcome aboard card and new amenity kit in first class, featuring Dermalogica products and a case design which doubles as a tablet case. First class passengers will also receive new slippers, an additional pillow, and a choice of mimosa cocktail. Business class customers will get new slippers, as well as an amenity kit with Akhassa products. Both premium classes will also benefit from an enhanced meal service, with new menu selections, new china tableware, and upgraded linen. First class passengers will benefit from new items including “a textured placemat, napkin ring, accent water glass and an amuse-bouche”, and dishes will be hand-delivered upon request, “to resemble the personalised service provided in an upscale restaurant”. A soup option will be introduced, as well as a “customisable pasta entrée”, which AA says is a first for an airline. First class customers will also benefit from “a featured sundae option, a breakfast card – similar to hotel room service, increased bread options and a pre-landing sweet treat and spa water”. Passengers in first class will also be able to sample wines, and will be handed a tasting card to assist with their choices. The new offering will be available on the carrier’s B777-200ER, B767-300ER and B757-200 aircraft on European, Asian and long-haul Latin American flights, as well as AA’s forthcoming B777-300ER aircraft. The new aircraft will also feature a walk-up bar for business and first class passengers, offering “a selection of snacks, sandwiches and assorted sweets, available between the first and last meals”.
